Kick-Ass (2010) Movie Overview
Kick-Ass is an upcoming superhero film based on the comic book of the same name by Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr. The film is directed by Matthew Vaughn, produced by actor Brad Pitt and will premiere April 16, 2010 in the United States, and April 2, 2010 in the United Kingdom. The plot of Kick-Ass concerns a teenage boy, Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), who decides to become a real-life superhero after being inspired by the heroes of comic books. He soon encounters a mysterious vigilante called Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage), and his daughter Hit-Girl (ChloĆ« Moretz), who are working to bring down the local drug baron Frank D’Amico. He also meets another vigilante, Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), who has been inspired by Kick-Ass‘. The rights to a film version of the comic book were sold before the first issue was published. When the film is released there will be fewer than twelve issues of the comic in print. The script for the film was reportedly written in May 2008, and filming occurred in late 2008 to early 2009.
