The Fall (2006) Movie Overview
The Fall is a 2006 film by Tarsem Singh, starring Lee Pace, Catinca Untaru, and Justine Waddell. It is based on the screenplay of the 1981 Bulgarian film Yo Ho Ho by Valeri Petrov. The film earned over $3 million worldwide and was met with mixed reviews. The film was released to theaters in 2008. It should not be confused with another 2008 release of the same title, a legal drama by John Krueger. In 1920s Los Angeles, Roy Walker (Lee Pace), a young man described as a college type, has done one ‘trick’ as a movie stuntman which lands him in the hospital. Bedridden with one operation behind him and more to go, he fears he is paralyzed. That’s when a note blows into his bed from outside. Soon, a young girl with her arm in a body cast (a patient from the children’s ward upstairs) rushes in and grabs the note. As it turns out, the note belongs to this girl who goes by the name of Alexandria (Catinca Untaru). She is a young immigrant girl who broke her arm while picking oranges. Roy begins to tells her she is named after Alexander the Great, one of the greatest warriors of all time, when a Doctor tells Alexandria that she has to leave– but not before Roy promises to tell her an epic tal… Source
